I have lost a total of 7 lbs this month! (:

I went on a bit of a binge today - had a little bit of ice cream, some peanut butter, and a handful of almonds and chocolate chips. :D

I downloaded two Billy Blanks Taebo workouts, so I'm going to try those out tonight. I bought a one-month gym pass at the beginning of the month, so next week is my last. I decided that I would take as many of the offered classes this last week, so I'm continuing with my spinning class but also joining Awesome Abs (it's only 15 minutes so it must be brutal!), Cardio Boot Camp (which is an hour, but look at its name!), and BodyCombat. I've always wanted to take up some kind of martial art/combat sport like kickboxing or muay thai, but since there's nothing available nearby, this was the perfect option - a martial arts workout that probably doesn't have you actually beating people up (or, in my case, probably GETTING beat up!)

I hope I can get to 126 at the end of this week. Going back home for the summer has its good things as well as the not-so-good things, mainly my inability to do any kind of textbook work/studying. My dad hasn't been home for about a month, and he comes on Tuesday, so I'm making him a chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies - can you tell he has a sweet tooth? Here's to hoping I don't sneak into the kitchen when everyone's out and gorge myself! (:

Your result for What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test...

Non-conformist, Visionary, and Independent

-1 Abstract, -4 Islamic, -6 Ukiyo-e, -10 Cubist, -2 Impressionist and -2 Renaissance!

Abstract art uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which exists independently of what may appear to others as visual realities. Western had been underpinned by the logic of perspective and an attempt to reproduce an illusion of visible reality. It allowed the progressive thinking artists to show a different side to the world around them. By the end of the 19th century many artists felt a need to create a 'new kind of art' which would encompass the fundamental changes taking place in technology, science and philosophy. Abstract artists created art that was diverse and reflected the social and intellectual turmoil in all areas of Western culture.

People that chose abstract art as their preferred artform tend to be visionsaries. They see things in the world around them and in people that others may miss because they look beyond what is visual only with the eye. They rely on their inner thoughts and feelings in dealing with the world around them instead of on what they are told they should think and feel. They feel freed from the tendancy to be bound by traditional thought and experiences. They look more toward their own ideas and experiences than what they are told by their religious upbringing or from scientific evidence. They tend to like to prove theories themselves instead of relying on the insight or ideas of others. They are not bound by common and mundane, but like to travel and have new experiences. They value intelligence, but they also enjoy a challenge. They can be rather argumentative when they are being forced or feel as if they are being forced to conform.

Take What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test

I'd say that's a pretty accurate assessment.

Colin Powell basically sums it all up perfectly:

Reporter: Sir, what part did McCain's negativity play in your decision, the negative tone of the campaign?

Powell: It troubled me. We have two wars. We have economic problems. We have health problems. We have education problems. We have infrastructure problems. We have problems around the world with our allies. So those are the problems the American people wanted to hear about, not about Mr. Ayers, not about who's a Muslim or who's not a Muslim. Those kinds of images going out on Al-Jazeera are killing us around the world.

And we have got to say to the world, it doesn't make any difference who you are or what you are, if you're an American, you're an American. And this business, for example, of the congressman from Minnesota who's going around saying, "Let's examine all congressmen to see who is pro-America or not pro-America" -- we have got to stop this kind of nonsense, pull ourselves together and remember that our great strength is in our unity and in our diversity. And so, that really was driving me.

And to focus on people like Mr. Ayers and these trivial issues, for the purpose of suggesting that somehow Mr. Obama would have some kind of terrorist inclinations, I thought that was over the top. It was beyond just good political fighting back and forth. I think it went beyond. And to sort of throw in this little Muslim connection, you know, "He's a Muslim and, my goodness, he's a terrorist" -- it was taking root. And we can't judge our people and we can't hold our elections on that kind of basis.

So, yes, that kind of negativity troubled me, And the constant shifting of the argument. I was troubled a couple of weeks ago when in the middle of the crisis, the [McCain] campaign said, "We're going to go negative," and they announced it, "We're going to go negative and attack [Obama's] character through Bill Ayers." Now I guess the message this week is, "We're going to call him a socialist, Mr. Obama is now a socialist, because he dares to suggest that maybe we ought to look at the tax structure that we have."

Taxes are always a redistribution of money. Most of the taxes that are redistributed go back to those who paid them, in roads and airports and hospitals and schools. And taxes are necessary for the common good. And there is nothing wrong with examining what our tax structure is or who should be paying more, who should be paying less. And for us to say that that makes you a socialist, I think is an unfortunate characterization that isn't accurate.

I don't want my taxes raised. I don't want anybody else's taxes raised. But I also want to see our infrastructure fixed. I don't want to have a $12 trillion national debt, and I don't want to see an annual deficit that's over $500 billion heading toward a trillion. So, how do we deal with all of this?

I hate Sarah Palin.

What do I hate more than Sarah Palin?

STUPID PEOPLE.

"“My wife and I are expecting our first child, in April 2nd, next year,” the man said. “And frankly, we're scared. We're scared of an Obama presidency.”"

How much do you want to bet that it's because....dun dun dun...OBAMA IS A MUSLIM!?!

God. Get a clue, you fucking idiot.

The Republicans are such whiny little shits.
1. Obama palls around with terrorists. Um...no.

2. VP debate moderator Gwen Ifill is biased because of a book she wrote about black political leaders, including Obama, and this is a sinister plot by his camp to rig the debates in his favor. FYI, she's a moderator. What's she going to do, not let Palin talk?

3. At a McCain rally, idiotic minister says: “There are millions of people around this world praying to their god—whether it’s Hindu, Buddha, Allah—that his opponent wins, for a variety of reasons. And Lord, I pray that you will guard your own reputation, because they’re going to think that their God is bigger than you, if that happens." Yeah, you can read it again. No, it doesn't make any sense.

4. McCain surrogate on Obama's past drug use: "He ought to admit, ‘You know, I've got to be honest with you. I was a guy of the street. I was way to the left. I used cocaine." Okay, first of all, the guy included it in his fucking book. I really don't see how that isn't being honest. Second of all, let's just think for a moment - what's more important, something he did as a kid, and what a hell of a lot of teenagers do as well, or what he is doing, and what he proposes to do now, as a man?

5. Not that anyone cares about or listens to the shit that Palin spews, but this has to be mentioned for its sheer idiocy and hypocrisy. "Senator Obama tried to make a secret deal with the Iraqi government...Obama apparently tried to undermine our government's official efforts to reduce troops in Iraq...to put political ambitions in front of doing what's right for our troops is breathtaking and it is unacceptable." Just as breathtaking and unacceptable as you putting YOUR ambitions in front of your family? Your 17-year-old daughter is preggers, Sarah. And that brings me to the next point.

6. Palin is against abortion, even if her daughter was raped. “In times like these with wars and financial crisis...our opponent kind of hopes you...won’t notice how radical, absolutely radical his idea is on this and his record is until its too late...A vote for Barack Obama is a vote for activist courts that will continue to smother the open and democratic debate that we deserve and that we need on this issue of life." Yeah? No. She says activist courts when she can only name one Supreme Court case. On what planet is being pro-choice radical? Who are you to say what women have to do? And also, who, really, is the one trying to divert people from the real issues currently at hand?

7. All of their fucking ads. Example: "Chicaco Way" attempts to cast Obama as a stereotypical “shady” Chicago politician. Shot in black-and-white, the ad asserts “Obama’s first campaign was launched at a gathering at Mr. Ayers's home.” I have no words, my friends.

I have to agree with Rep. John Lewis:

"What I am seeing reminds me too much of another destructive period in American history. Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin are sowing the seeds of hatred and division, and there is no need for this hostility in our political discourse."

McCain's campaign has turning into nothing but a smear machine. To quote Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, "I think they’re just stupid, they’re dumb, dumb. They’re all dumb when people are facing the challenges in their own lives that they’re facing no one wants to hear that stuff it’s just dumb." Hallelujah.

And just as a sidenote, Sarah Palin didn't abuse her power! She's a goddamn hockey mom, for crying out loud!

I think this comment sums up pretty nicely what I've been thinking:

"Can somebody stop her. She is too annoying."

So yeah, I'm kind of biased. At least Palin was booed for 90 seconds at an NHL game in Philly.

I had a very weird dream last night.

One of the weirdest parts was that I was being chased up the slope at my school, and I was stabbed. And I felt the actual pain of being stabbed. I actually felt pain. I felt it first penetrate my skin and enter my body, and then rip through my insides and...it was so strange. I just felt the blade go through me. But I wasn't scared. I was running away, but when the girl stabbed me, it just...it was just the feeling of pain. I was feeling the pain, but...I can't describe it. It's like when someone pinches your ear and goes, this is what getting an earring feels like.

I can actually refeel the pain, and how I felt watching this unfold, and how my dream self felt. My dreams are always complicated.

Fuck people who say Biden tearing up during the debate was fake. You heartless assholes, that was his family. Sometimes I tear up just thinking about what would happen if anything happened to any of my relatives, it's just that important for some people. And the fact that he is proud of his family and cares so much about them is commendable and a good quality to see in someone. Just because he's a politician doesn't mean that things that matter to all of us don't matter to him, as well. His wife and daughter DIED. You don't just get over those kinds of things.

UGH. People make me so mad sometimes.

"Palin attacked Sen. Obama on Saturday for his brief political relationship with Bill Ayers, a founding member of the radical Weather Underground, which was involved in several bombings in the early 1970s, including attacks on the Pentagon and the Capitol. Obama was a child at the time of the bombings."

Desperate much, Republicans? How can you possibly tie him to someone he knew when he was 8 years old?!

"We see America as the greatest force for good in this world," Palin said at a fund-raising event in Colorado, adding, "Our opponent though, is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."

I have no words. She is so fucking stupid. Palling around with terrorists? When he was 8?

"She referred to an article in Saturday's New York Times about Obama's relationship with Ayers, now 63. But that article concluded that "the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he has called 'somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.'""

God, I hate Palin and McCain.
